Welcome to our web site and to the Jonathan Project

I will now briefly introduce you to Jonathan of the Jonathan Project. If you would like to get to know more of this truly special individual, please click Jonathan's Page. Jonathan was born with cerebral palsy, which greatly curtails the person's physical movements. Jonathan, being unable to feed himself, dress himself, or take care of any of his physical needs is limited to his electrical power chair and his mom's care for his means of locomotion. Jonathan is maturing physically and is becoming too heavy for his mother Dianne to lift out of bed, onto the commode, or into the bath tub. Jonathan needs a lift system that operates manually to convey him from his bed room, to the commode, or to the bath tub.

Another immediate need is a "conversion van" which having a ramp makes it possible for Jonathan to travel up the ramp, stopping at a docking site, where he and "power chair" are secured in place for easy and safe transportation to his physical therapy appointments two or three times a week, to his frequent doctor's appointments, or even to visit his older sister, aunts, and uncles.

Jonathan's family is unable to provide these needs, and we at Philadelphia Press Ministries are asking you—our web site visitors—to give of your means in helping Jonathan and his family to secure his several needs. Your contributions are tax-deductible, as we are a recognized Church Ministry. Please feel free to browse through our web site and become acquainted with us before making your gifts payable to:

The Conversion Van

VMI'S

Northstar E–Series:

This Chrysler conversion offers a lowered floor, allowing more head room and a lowered ramp height, making safety a priority and convenience. This model also has a kneel system which lowers the vehicle's height even more, for easier accessibility. The built in ramp deployment is not only available at the push of a button, but is also accessed manually in case of electronic miss haps. This van has third row tumble forward seats for added room and maneuverability, and provides more cargo space than any other lowered floor mini van.

The Lift System

The Lift System needed will be of professional health care quality to insure safety both for Jonathan and the operator, as well as providing ease of transportation. We are looking at a manually operated system, to convey Jonathan to and from the restroom facilities in the home. This will cause a need for some hopefully minimal remodeling of the home to insure the proper functionality and maneuverability of the equipment.

Projected Cost for Lift System: $3,700

Projected Cost for Remodeling: $4,800

Total Projected Cost for "The Jonathan Project": $58,500.00
